Diaper mania!

Yes, I'm attempting to sew my own CLOTH DIAPERS!
When I've told people, I've gotten responses anywhere from, "good for you" to "oh, that's interesting" to looks that imply "what are you thinking, you surely have LOST your mind!"
:) :) :) :) :) :) :)

It all started when a colleague of mine told me how she uses all-in-one cloth diapers and how much cheaper and better for the environment they are.
After searching various brands on-line, the Ain1 diapers cost around $20 per diaper set, I decided that maybe, just maybe, I could sew my own.
Luckily, I had two huge bags of old clothes that I was getting rid of and decided to go for it.
Here is me cutting and piecing diapers together-I found a free pdf. pattern on-line, but altered it later, because it was simply too large!

First round of cut-outs-way too large!
The bottom L green diaper is my friend's Ain1 diaper that I used to re-measure and make a smaller pattern
The first diaper is sewn!

The outside is a waterproof(raincoat) material and has two cotton layers, I added a space to insert the soaker pad, although you can do that on-top too :)
the velcro makes it adjustable to fit newborns and older kiddos
TB(teddy bear) was my model
even MORE diapers- I currently have around 28 that are in various levels of completion!PS a huge thanks to my friend Amy, who let me use her sewing machine and to my parents who bought me my VERY own sewing machine!

Wow! I can't belive you decided to make your own! I had also thought about using cloth diapers. They are kind of a lot of money up front, but we figured out we would spend $2000 a year on disposable ones. I hope the ones you made work well for you! :)
