Pizza on the Bar-B!

Jason had the great idea of doing a pizza on the grill, so that's what we tried today.
He made up a tomato suace last night and let the spices and fresh basil soak overnight.
Here is me shaping the dough.
On the grill- we did meatballs on skewers.
The dough was finished remarkably quickly and it was super wonderful- crispy on the top and bottom, but soft and chewy in the inside- good job Jason!

it looks yummy too!toppings on and ready for the final turn on the grill
it's done!

I was also super excited to see our first little green tomatoes this morning!
finally, Jason bought me this wonderful, bright and gigantic lollipop!
it was so cute that I had to blog about it :)

enjoying the weekend!

Jason and I are having a fun weekend of chillaxing, painting and hanging out and plan to try pizza on the grill tomorrow.

As for our garden, it's doing fantabulous!

I noticed that our bean plants white flowers have been changing to orange and that we have our first couple of beans! so cool!!
(look below).

This summer I went out and bought a new blender, since our old one started to smoke and died completely a couple months ago.
I've been trying different smoothie combinations and here is a surprisingly unique and refreshing one I tried today.
Watermelon smoothie:
(ingredients in order of quantity used-sorry no precise measurements here)
-watermelon pieces frozen(I left the seeds in cause I'm lazy :) probably about 3-4 cups
-ice
-rasberry/apple concentrate 1/4 can depending on desired sweetness
-lime juice or lime aid concentrate-try a 1/5 of a can to 1/4 a can if desired

put all the ingredients in a blender with some water and blend together-vary according to taste preferences.
ENJOY!

Jason tried out the newly repainted grill, so here is a pic...

Jason marinated the pork in a spicy pineapple marinade and we did some Mexican style hamburgers with avocado too-yummy!

Our crazy forrest on our balcony :)

Just a couple days ago we noticed the first flowers sprouting from our container garden. Here is a shot of our bean plants and you can see teensy-weensy little white flowers at the top.a close-up

our tomato plants are flowering too and growing very nicely!
our squash plant in the middle flanked by basil and more tomatoes- we have to transplant some of them today, so it's less crowded.

New and improved braai(BBQ)

Chicago day

Lake front, we had Korean food and enjoyed the beautiful lake and watched as people exercised :) we sat right at the bike path.

Navy Pier, inside

It was rather hot, so Zella and I hopped into the fountain with all the little kids in their undies(don't worry, we kept our clothes on :)
it felt so good!
we walked around a LOT!

We went into Marshall Field's and Jason treated us to some candy-yeah sugar!
Lizelle REALLY wanted to go up the Sears Tower, so we got to see the sun set across the city.
