Visit from the Haas's

This past weekend, The Haas's came for a visit.

The three of us(Jason had to work Friday) had great fun exploring the area and driving over to Southwest Research, where Jason works. The place is rather huge and we drove around till we found the Honda and left J a note, which he discovered later.
We also walked around the campus of UTSA.

All of us also explored San Antonio, went to see the Missions and drove to a Park to go hiking, except the trails were closed, due to all the rain we've been getting.

We also tried many different restaurants, from Mexican, Thai to grilling marinated chicken by the pool. All very yummy!
Here are some pictures- enjoy!

Lastly, here is a cute little lizard we saw on the riverwalk...

Things that I'm grateful for here in TX...

Jason and I have been reading The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan, an allegorical story of the Christian walk.
God's been showing me areas of my heart that needs to be softened and changed.
One of the things I've also been thinking about is all the things that God has blessed me with and that I need to not take them for granted, even the little things.

So, I've been thinking of things that I'm grateful for here in TX:

1.) God providing a great internship for Jason
2.) wonderful weather and opportunity to see a different part of the States with J.
3.) 50 cent Avocado's
4.) 88 cent Mango's (sometimes 44 cents!!!)
5.) the opportunity for me to try Lifeguarding(even though it makes me a little nervous and I have to trust God with it :)
6.) my job only being 5-8 minutes away from our apartment
7.) making new friends with the interns who work with Jason and live near us
8.) Boat-tailed-grackles (birds) that make the weirdest and most wonderful songs and sounds
9.) the treat of having a pool and hot tub within a couple of feet of where we live
10.) having family come and visit and stay with us!

The Riverwalk in San Antonio

On Saturday we all went down to the RIVERWALK.

The river flows through down town San Antonio and there are all sorts of little stores and restaurants along the water.
Also narrated boat tours.
It was nice and warm, translating into getting extremely yummy Hagen dahz ice cream, Pa and Ma had rum and raisin and Jason had mango and rum and raisin and I had mocha coffee chocolate chip and dutch chocolate chip. Some of the beautiful scenery with the brightly colored umbrellas.

Here is a picture when we are on the boat tour going up the river.

Enjoying the tour, we even saw a couple of weddings happening!

There are some huge trees(most over 300 years old) and another one of the boats, like the one we are on.

More Shrimp!!!

J and I back at the Shrimp house with Pa and Ma...
We are ALL really hungry at this point...hungry smiles

Pictures after our tummies are full...happy smiles

Pa and Ma- awwww, aren't they so CUTE!!! They just had their anniversary-
31 years together!!!
congratulate them, when you see them :) :) :)

Surprise Visit!!!

Pa and Ma with Jason conspired against me and planned a surprise visit.
Jason told me he wanted to go to a fish market down town and then we got 'lost'. We ended up going by the airport and J said he wanted to check it out, since we would be flying the coming weekend to visit friends for their wedding in Virginia.
We walked all around and around the airport and Jason kept asking for more and more time to look at random things, while I was getting really impatient.
Then we saw them and I was SO completely surprised!

Here they are at our front door, it was so much fun to show them around.

Lifeguarding...

J and I the morning after my 3 day training for Lifeguarding, I'm pretty tired, but happy to have that over with. I have a couple more training/orientations left to finish before I can start.
I'll post a picture of my 'garb' when I have it :)
Jason treated me to yummy chocolate and dessert!
(he's so wonderful!!)
