USO Swing Night!!!

Recently J and I went to a swing night, where they had a great live swing quartet with fabulous music. It was hosted by United Service Organization, basically commemorating and honoring veterans and all those currently serving the US(we especially think of Craig :) please keep him in your prayers. )

We had a great time trying to remember what we could from our old swing moves. One feature of the night was a photo set-up where you could try to recreate the famous black and white photo "the kiss", with the US navy sailor and nurse kissing. The photo is actually called "Kissing the War Goodbye" and was taken in 1945.

Prayer Requests...

Hello Everyone...
I thought I'd make a little post listing some of the prayer requests we have, in the hopes that you will keep us in your prayers when you view our little blog :)

This picture is of us at one of our favorite little Mexican places that we like to frequent on our weekly 'date-night'. I particularly like their spicy salsa!!

For Jason
That God would...
*provide an internship for this summer
(hopefully with housing, J has been applying and interviewing and we will keep you all posted as we hear more)
*acceptance of the paper (that was submitted to a conference the previous semester and we should hear back by March)
*writing his masters thesis (sometime before the end of the semester)
*taking his qualifying exam for doing his PhD.(we are not sure when this will be exactly, some time this semester)

For (me) Chantal
*wisdom and guidance
as I try to discern what to do next semester
*motivation and patience
as I develop more(hopefully also better) art skills and figure out what area to focus on.
*
a job for this summer wherever J finds an internship and a job for next semester if I go to Eastern University.
*** US Citizenship Test on Feb 28th

Both of US:
*motivation and perseverance
in our classes
*
that we would continue to put God first and follow Him faithfully everyday.

Also for
Craig..
*continued
prayers for safety, wisdom and guidance on missions and encouragement and strength for continued time in Iraq...

Thanks
smiles
J and C

SNOW days!!!

Hello!
As you can see by these pictures, we had a snow day here in Urbana!
Not only lots of snow, but enough wind that they officially canceled school for both Parkland and U of I for Feb 13 and 14th. Jason and I took full advantage of this and slept in late this morning and played in the snow yesterday.
Enjoy :)Here are J and myself under a balcony trying to stay out of the wind...

Here is one of Jason and me having fun in the snow, unfortunately the wind was blowing like crazy and the snow was was super powdery...

Finally here is a photo of what our parking lot looks like at the moment, we are sincerely hoping they are going to come plow still today and it's already past noon. (PS. you can see the black Honda on the far left corner of the photo and our white car in the upper right hand corner, both nice and buried.)

Cheesecake Factory Celebration!

Hello All!
A couple weekends ago Jason and I went home to the Mulder's to celebrate some of the many birthdays in January! (sorry Lizelle-wish you could have made it too) That means Angie, Jason, Mom(Althea) and Maria! We decided to meet at the Cheesecake Factory and eat yummy food and dessert! hmmmm and was it ever divine!
Here is a picture of our wonderful group, Raquel is in the purple thing in the front of the picture taking a nap. It was bitterly cold that day and we tried to keep her as snug as possible.

Cheesecake galore!

Here is Mom smiling over her piece! and Jason blowing out his candle!

Angie and Dylan are all smiles :)

We also took a group picture of the fam. at home to send to Craig. Maria even let me take a bunch of her! :) :) :)

Here are some of Maria too!
